Non-Accredited Meet Volunteer Roles
Explore the many ways you can help out at a meet without any official qualifications.

You don’t have to have a qualification to make a difference at a meet! There are several support roles that are crucial in the success of all meets, from ASA Championships to Zone Meets.
If you are interested in filling one of the below roles at an upcoming meet, please advise your club administrator/volunteer coordinator, or volunteer directly with the meet host (their email address can be found on the Fastlane page for the event).
Timekeeper – For each race, start a stopwatch with one hand, push a button with the other, record times on provided lane timer sheets. Report to your briefing 15 minutes prior to the start of session.
Chief Timekeeper – Ensure we have enough Timekeepers, ensure all Timekeepers are comfortable with their responsibilities, and offer support in case of malfunctioning watches. Must have prior experience as a timekeeper.
Marshall – Coordinating swimmers ahead of their races to ensure everybody is in the correct heat and lane.
Quantum Operator – Operating the Quantum software (finalising times, patching through to each event). Proficiency with computers and software is preferable. Note - at some point in the future this role may come with prerequisites.
Meet Manager Operator – Operating the Meet Manager software (pulling times through from Quantum, generating results and finals listings). Proficiency with computers, software and data entry is preferable. Note - at some point in the future this role may come with prerequisites.
Admin – Photocopying, posting results, processing DQ forms, communicating updates to team managers, loading any required documents into club pigeon holes as advised by the Meet Director/AOD Supervisor.
Back Door/Competitor Door Duty - Manning the back door, ensuring that coaches, team managers and officials sign in. This role requires you to report to the Meet Director 15 minutes before the doors are set to open.
Front Door/Spectator Door Duty - Manning the front door, charging the spectator entry fee and giving admission stamps. This role requires you to report to the Meet Director 15 minutes before the doors are set to open.
Refreshments – Passing water and food around to officials/volunteers, carrying out basic food preparation i.e. heating savoury pies, plating food.
Announcer – Announcing races, DQs, and any important updates as advised by the meet director.
Photographer – Capturing the meet on camera. You’re welcome to use your own photography equipment. At ASA hosted meets, a camera can be provided.
